Making Disciples

on .

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you."  Matthew 28:19-20

Jesus was clear in his commands to share the gospel with the entire world.  So why are we not obeying his command?

Maybe its because we don't know where to go.
Recent studies show that 75% of people living in Brazoria county do not have a personal relationship with Jesus.  I'm sure the statistics are very similiar wherever you live.  Go next door, or down the street.  Share Jesus' love with everyone you meet.

Maybe its because we don't know what to say.
There are many different methods you can use to help you in sharing the gospel.  Whether you use a method you've learned, or just tell others about your personal experiences, speak from the heart.  People will listen when they know you truly care about them.

Maybe its because we're afraid of failure.
Billy Graham said, "Nowhere do the Scriptures tell us to seek results, nor do the Scriptures rebuke evangelists if the results are meager."  Jesus gives us the command to go, but the results are up to the Holy Spirit.

Graham also said, "Evangelism is not a calling reserved exclusively for the clergy. I believe one of the greatest priorities of the church today is to mobilize the laity to do the work of evangelism."  If you're interested in being more intentional about sharing the gospel and are looking for a place to plug in, consider joining us at Texas Port Ministry. The opportunities for ministry in the Freeport Harbor Community continue to increase, and we need additional volunteers.  We want to help you and your church to follow Jesus' command to make disciples of all nations.

"You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem (port workers) and in all Judea and Samaria (truck drivers), and to the end of the earth (seafarers)."  Acts 1:8
