Past, Present, Future

on .

Tuesday morning we met with our Board of Directors and discussed plans for future ministry and where we feel God is leading Texas Port Ministry in the next few years.  Later that day we pulled out some files to look back at where we had been in the past.  It was interesting to see how much has changed, but also, how much has stayed the same.

Texas Port Ministry was established in 1974 as a primarily center-based ministry to International seafarers that docked in Freeport.  Lots of things have changed since then, including staff, locations, volunteers, and even our name!  We've expanded ministry to others in the Freeport Harbor Community including truck drivers and port workers.  We've created a list of core values and are working toward fulfilling a vision of ministry to EVERY ship, EVERY truck, and EVERY area of the Harbor with partnerships from EVERY evangelistic church in the area.  But through all the changes one thing remains the same - we are committed to sharing the love of Jesus with everyone we meet.

As we reflect on the past and look to the future it reminds us to trust God for our need.  God is active and working in the Freeport Harbor Community and we get the privilege of working with Him!  God has been faithful over the years to provide the resources we need at Texas Port Ministry.  We're trusting in His faithfulness to continue to provide for us as we look for further opportunities for ministry.

You can join God in His work in Freeport by partnering with Texas Port Ministry as a monthly contributor or by becoming a regular volunteer.  Monthly contributions to our General Operating Fund, no matter how big or small, help to ensure we have the resources we need to offer ongoing ministry.  Volunteers do the actual ministry work by providing hospitality at the center, transporting seafarers from the ship to shopping venues, and visiting onboard ships and to truck drivers.  Maybe God wants to provide for us through you!
